Alignment is earned
While a strategy document can declare that the leadership team agrees, it cannot force the team to internalize alignment. Trailrock designs and facilitates every workshop directly, starting with an executive alignment session and extending into training and working sessions for the broader organization as needed. The goal in the executive room and the goal in a team-level session share the common transformation objective: one builds momentum and alignment at the top, the other builds the capability to execute on it everywhere else.
Research shows that organizations with active, visible executive sponsorship report a 73 percent success rate on change initiatives, compared with 29 percent for those without it (Prosci). McKinsey's research on corporate transformations finds that when leaders give frontline employees real ownership of the change, the success rate rises to roughly 70 percent, and climbs further when the frontline drives change proactively (McKinsey, 2021). In other words, Workshopping builds ownership.
What the executive workshop does
The executive alignment session establishes a common vocabulary and a common view of the opportunity across finance, operations, and revenue leadership, so the team is finally evaluating the same thing. Its most important exercise is the Future Jam, a guided future-ideation session: the leadership team works through a structured, progressive discussion to build scenarios for the future state of their industry, then aligns on the most likely and most desirable of those futures. That shared future state becomes the north star for the organization's technology strategy, and it is what the Roadmapping stage later works backward from.
What happens beyond the executive room
Trailrock proactively identifies the training and workshops a broader team needs based on what Deconstruction, Dark Process Discovery, and Talent Profiling have surfaced, and designs the program accordingly. The scope varies with the organization, but it commonly spans general AI and innovation education through more nuanced skill-building, such as developing a team's business analysis capability. Trailrock facilitates every session; the work is meant to build the organization's own capacity, not create a standing dependency on outside facilitation.
What changes
- The leadership team leaves with a specific, shared picture of the future they are building toward, not a slogan.
- Teams outside the executive suite gain the vocabulary and skills the technology strategy will require of them.
- Disagreements and blind spots get surfaced and resolved in a structured setting, rather than surfacing later as resistance.
